“Private Desert”: Ovationed in Venice Film Festival and Our Pride in the Oscar Race

Released in 2021, the film directed by Aly Muritiba achieved great success at the Venice Film Festival, receiving a 10-minute standing ovation and winning the Audience Award at the Giornate degli Autori. This recognition is the result of the film’s powerful and impactful narrative, which captivated both viewers and critics with its deep and engaging approach.

But the journey of “Private Desert” did not end in Venice. The film was chosen by the Brazilian Academy of Cinema as Brazil’s official entry for Best International Feature at the 2022 Oscars. Although it did not advance to the final competition, this nomination was a great source of pride and highlighted the film as one of the most significant works of the year.
