At the quadrangle they play football, dance “Caopeira” and talk about freedom.

Patio is both a record of what IS and a staging of what COULD BE. An observational documentary that ultimately abandons the conventions of the format and proposes a reenactment of something that has not yet happened, a fictionalized construction of the future. A play of staging and improvisation. An exercise in creative freedom under the control of a fixed camera. The frame remains the same, and the construction occurs more through the editing of the soundtrack than through the succession of images.
The choice of the open shot framed by bars, with us as spectators behind the bars, serves to express that in that space (Patio), our physical presence is not permitted. We, who are free, can only look through the bars that keep those individuals isolated from the outside world.
