Addressing the ambiguous and contradictory aspects present in every human being and involving the audience in a narrative that generates discomfort, and consequently, reflection, is what motivates me in cinematic art.
The film deals with themes dear to me, such as love and sacrifice, and a theme that is significant to my country—our inefficient prison system.
Avoiding the stereotypes typical of brazilian cinema, I portray the figure of the prisoner in a raw manner, setting aside the crimes the character has committed or is committing, and emphasizing what makes us similar to him—our humanity.
